Wokyo is a [Dubai](https://9715.ae/dubai/) noodle chain where you build your own bowl, and its Al Seef branch is the one that puts that bowl beside Dubai Creek. It sits in the Heritage Village stretch of Al Seef, near the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, with tables looking straight onto the water.

Ordering works the same as at every Wokyo: choose wok-tossed or soup noodles, then a sauce, a base, a protein and any extras. Our pick was udon with Shanghai sauce, which carries just the right amount of heat and is a bowl big enough to count as a full meal. Start with the Crispy Renkon, fried lotus root; regulars add Chicken Panko and finish with mochi ice cream. Expect roughly AED 70 to 90 a head.

The interior is stylish and calm, and the staff are warm and quick to help. The outside tables are what everyone wants, and at sunset they fill first: we waited about 20 minutes for one.

Ask for a table outside when you arrive, and aim for sunset. The catch is that the menu is identical to the JLT, Motor City and Al Safa branches, so you are coming for the setting rather than anything you can't eat elsewhere.

Worth the trip for a relaxed, affordable dinner by the creek, especially if you are already walking Al Seef or showing visitors around old Dubai.
