Wakha runs like an old-fashioned butcher's: you choose your cut, and the Shinwari kitchen charcoal-grills it seasoned with little more than salt and the lamb's own fat. It sits opposite Lulu Hypermarket in [Al Barsha](https://9715.ae/dubai/area/barsha/) 1, and you should arrive hungry and order the Wakha Platter.

It's a variety of grilled meats on a bed of Kabuli pulao, rice steamed with lamb, carrots and raisins, served with bread. The meat comes off the coals rich and smoky, and the plain seasoning keeps the focus on it. Depending on the size you pick, it feeds two to four people. Regulars also go for the mutton ribs, grilled chicken tikka and a pot of qahwa to finish. Don't be surprised to see one of these platters on almost every table.

The food takes a while to cook because every cut is cooked to order, so call ahead and have it started before you arrive. They deliver too, but eating in is the whole experience.

The room is plainer than the food, and cleanliness has been patchy, so check your cutlery before you start.

Worth it for a group of meat lovers who want to share one big tray and don't mind a no-frills dining room.
