Vietnamese Foodies in JLT is where the chain began: chef Lily Hoa Nguyen taught Vietnamese cooking classes before opening this lakeside branch on the promenade level of Lake Terrace Tower, Cluster D, in 2018. The menu follows the food of Ho Chi Minh City, and many dishes are cooked in broth or water rather than oil. It has since grown into branches across [Dubai](https://9715.ae/dubai/) and won Favourite Asian Restaurant at the What's On Awards 2024.

We typically start with Fresh Vegetable Rolls before diving into a bowl of the Beef Tenderloin Pho. The broth, simmered for 14 hours, is rich and deeply flavourful, soaking perfectly into the tender beef. It comes with a plate of fresh sides to season it yourself. The Lemongrass Beef Banh Mi is our other regular order, and we always round off the meal with a classic Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Add the goi ga bap cai, a chicken and coriander cabbage salad, to liven up a pho-heavy table. Overall, we spent about AED 60 per person, which isn't bad for a weekend meal.

Inside is small, about 30 seats at closely packed tables, so bigger groups should ask for the lakeside terrace, which takes 40. The staff always greet us warmly with a smile and keep the food coming quickly. It suits anyone in JLT after a proper bowl of pho for under AED 100 a head, and anyone eating vegan or gluten-free, who have plenty to choose from here.
