# Thai Taste Restaurant

Thai Taste is cooked by native Thai chefs on the ground floor of an apartment block in Arjan, and its menu marks every spicy dish on a four-step thermometer that runs from Mild to Thai. We found it while looking for lunch.

You'll find it in Al Sayyah Residence, Block D, in [Al Barsha](https://9715.ae/dubai/area/barsha/) South 3. First impressions: friendly staff and a clean room, with about 50 seats indoors and out. It's an à la carte menu with table service, and the staff happily steered us towards a few dishes.

We started with the Poh Pia Tod, crisp spring rolls with plum sauce (AED 35). Then the Gai Pad Med Mamuang, chicken stir-fried with cashews, capsicum, onion and smoked chilli jam (AED 42), and the Gaeng Keaw Whan, a green curry of coconut milk, eggplant, kaffir lime leaves and sweet basil (AED 37 with chicken). Thai Milk Tea, iced and sweet with caramelised milk (AED 21), took the edge off the spice.

Regulars order the tom yum, a spicy, sour soup with mushrooms, and finish with mango sticky rice (AED 44). One catch: rice isn't included with the curries, so steamed rice adds AED 10, and prawns or seafood add another AED 10 to the green curry.

Tip: pick your heat on the menu's scale before ordering, and start at Medium if Thai-level chilli is new to you.

Worth the trip for anyone in Arjan or Al Barsha South after a proper Thai lunch for under AED 80 a head.
