Lazy Cat is a Kuwait City café brand, and its [Dubai](https://9715.ae/dubai/) outpost sits inside [Al Quoz](https://9715.ae/dubai/area/al-quoz/) Pond Park, so the setting does as much work as the menu. A sweeping mural greets you on arrival, blue cat sculptures are dotted about, the garden is hung with plants and lights under fringed parasols, and the outdoor tables look across the greenery to the Burj Khalifa.

It isn't a cat café. The cats are the park's own strays, rabbits too, so they wander up to the tables when they feel like it and there's no promise any will turn up.

The coffee and matcha menu is well curated, and the blue matcha comes creamy and smooth with none of the usual bitterness. Desserts are limited, but the Fluffy Japanese Pancakes (AED 55) are the highlight: mini pancakes, light and almost cloud-like, with fresh berries, banana, maple syrup and vanilla soft serve. They take around 40 minutes to make, so order them as soon as you sit.

Weekends mean up to three hours in line for a table, and weekdays around 30 minutes; staff move fast once you're seated, but it's a poor pick for a quick coffee. Join the waiting list online before you set off. The well-kept park gives it a calm that's rare in Dubai, with a walking path for after your cup.

Lazy Cat is for a long, slow weekday breakfast. Order the Japanese Pancakes and any of the coffees.
