Khoori Special Kabab is one of the few places in [Dubai](https://9715.ae/dubai/) still baking proper sangak, the long Persian flatbread, fresh on site. It sits behind Union Co-op on Al Khaleej Road, in the row of Iranian kabab houses by Mamzar Beach, next to Kabab Khodemooni.

Most of the seating is outside, on carpeted day beds where you eat cross-legged off the floor, with a small, tidy indoor room if you'd rather sit at a table. It's table service: a waiter takes your order where you sit and brings everything out to you. On busy evenings every day bed is taken and people wait for one to come free, and most tables order koobideh with a stack of sangak and a bunch of fresh basil.

Every skewer we tried was juicy and smoky, charred at the edges. The gerger salad adds crunch and freshness, and a glass of ayran cuts through the grilled meat. The best thing we ate, though, was the lamb chops: five to a plate for Dhs60, tender and smoky. A mixed kebab plate is Dhs50. Tea arrives unasked at the end of the meal.

The staff will recommend dishes if you ask. Go after sunset in the cooler months and ask for the sangak straight from the oven. The catch: parking is shared with the whole restaurant row and runs out at busy times, and in high summer the outdoor seating gets hot.

Come after a day at Mamzar Beach, or make the trip for dinner if you want Iranian grilling without any polish.
