Khao Siam 45 is Thai from top to bottom: the owner, the chef and the manager are all Thai. It moved to [Al Barsha](https://9715.ae/dubai/area/barsha/) from Business Bay and now sits on the ground floor of the Postponed Building in Al Barsha 1, with indoor seating as well as takeaway and delivery.

The dish to order is the Tom Yam Goong, a hot and sour prawn soup with enough chilli that even at medium heat it has a real kick; ask for it mild if spice isn't your thing. The Green Papaya Salad comes flecked with dried shrimp, and the Chicken Pad Med Mamuang (chicken with cashew nuts) and Pad Thai are both worth ordering. We'd also get the Green Curry with chicken; ask for a bit of extra spice, which gives it more depth. The kitchen also cooks less common dishes such as Radna alongside the familiar ones.

The chef, Klom, comes out of the kitchen to ask tables how the food was. Service can slow down when it's busy, and not every dish is always available.

We finished with the classic Mango Sticky Rice and a Thai Milk Tea. Two people eat for about AED 120.

For Thai cooking made by Thai hands that doesn't cost much, Khao Siam 45 is the pick in Barsha, whether you sit down or order in.
