Cintafresh does one thing, payasam, and it was the first shop in [Dubai](https://9715.ae/dubai/) to turn Kerala's rice pudding into soft-serve ice cream.

It's a tiny takeaway shop in [Karama](https://9715.ae/dubai/area/karama/)'s Sheikh Hamdan Colony, near Dhe Puttu restaurant. There's no dine-in: you step in, order and pay, and take it away.

Everything on the menu is built on palada payasam: flakes of rice ada simmered in whole cream milk until the whole thing turns creamy. It comes warm, chilled or frozen into cones and ice sticks. Warm, it tastes milkier; chilled, it's more coconutty, and it's never cloyingly sweet. The softie keeps that same flavour and is thick and creamy; the cones are our pick if you want something lighter. A softie cone is about AED 7 and a scoop about AED 12.

When it's hot out, go for the chilled payasam or a cone rather than the warm bowl. If you're feeding a family, call ahead and have the 800ml tub (AED 25, enough for four to six) ready to collect, so you're not waiting in the crush.

The catch: the shop is so small it gets crowded, with nowhere to sit while you wait. Regulars order the palada both warm and chilled, and children head straight for the payasam ice cream.

If you're in Karama after dinner and want something sweet you won't find in a mall dessert chain, Cintafresh is worth the detour.
