We often find ourselves at Cassette in The Courtyard, [Al Quoz](https://9715.ae/dubai/area/al-quoz/), when we want a burger and a proper flat white in the same sitting. The name is a clue: it opened in 2019 as a music-led café, with curated playlists and vinyl for sale, and its tables spill into the atrium opposite the Courtyard Playhouse. The Courtyard itself, built in 1998 as an art and community centre, is worth a wander. Laptops, lunch-break colleagues, families and dogs share the tables, since it is both child- and dog-friendly. Expect a wait of around 10-15 minutes around lunchtime, but there is plenty of parking outside. It is table service, and the staff are quick to steer you to their favourites. You will pay around AED 75-80 for a burger and a coffee.

For us, the dish that always stands out is the Cassette Burger: a homemade beef patty, Red Leicester melted over it, and a soft potato bun that holds together to the last bite. A Cappuccino or Flat White is the right way to finish. We have also enjoyed the Big Cassette breakfast and the Vegan French Toast, and friends keep telling us to order the Acai bowl.

Be vary of weekend lunch time though. It's extremely busy and wait times are a bit out there. Come on a weekday, or early on a weekend. Cassette suits anyone working or meeting in Al Quoz who wants a good burger and coffee without leaving the area.
