Al Amoor Express is an Egyptian canteen built around koshary, and a proper bargain: a plate of the house koshary costs about AED 11. It sits across the road from Mall of the Emirates in [Al Barsha](https://9715.ae/dubai/area/barsha/), on the street behind the main road rather than facing it, and finding a table rarely takes long. The kitchen is open to the room, and much of the crowd is Egyptian, which tells you most of what you need to know about the koshary.

The sandwiches are the highlight, stuffed with fillings like falafel, French fries and foul. The Koshary is a must: Egypt's great street-food staple of rice, small pasta and lentils piled in layers, topped with chickpeas, a tangy spiced tomato sauce, a sharp garlic and chilli vinegar, and a shower of crispy fried onions. Regulars also go for the spicy stuffed falafel and the fatayer, and if you're hungrier still, order the Meat Pie. It's table service: staff bring it all to you, starting with oven-fresh flatbread that you tear up and eat with instead of cutlery.

Parking outside is a struggle and the dining room is small, which is why plenty of people take their koshary away or have it delivered. If you're eating in, leave the car in the mall's car park and walk across.

Come hungry. This is the place for a cheap, filling Egyptian lunch before or after a Mall of the Emirates run.
